Henri Cartier-Bresson
Form
The space seems to be the dominant element of the artwork. The use of lines in the photograph is thin and energetic lines. The center of the photograph is a little boy; the sides have a lot of space and the left hand side of the background, there are two little girls, and they are out of focus. The space has been isolated the little boy. I do not think that there is too much space on the artwork; I think the spaces are just right. The shapes in the photograph are not some major shapes like square, triangle, or circle; the shapes are irregular and random. The texture of the boy is hard in the photograph and the texture of the two girls in the background is soft in the photograph. I think the photographer has use the depth to make the background a bit blur. I think the more texture the better the photo will be. I think if there are colors on the photograph the theme of the photograph will be stronger, because the main focus of the photograph is about the joyful of the kid and colors can make people feel happy and joy. From the photograph, I can see that most of the tones are black and grey tones; there are not many white tones in the photo. A black and white photograph should be about eight tones of black, white and grey. In this photograph, the photographer has used emphasis and contrast as the principles of art.
Context
It was made in 1954; it was taken in Paris and made by Henri Cartier-Bresson. This work was made for how a kid can be happy easily, everywhere also can see children smiling and enjoying. The thing I know about Henri Cartier-Bresson is he is a French photographer that loves to stay on the street for the whole day until he could capture a nice and perfect moment that he likes. The photograph artwork related to other photograph by having a theme of “street photography” or “life photography” from that time. The photograph artwork have related to the social history of the time.
Content
This photograph is an image of a young boy carrying two magnums of wine, one bottle carried in each arm. The expression of happiness is on the boy’s face and the boy is on the middle of the picture, the main focus. This photography is a portrait size. I think the work represent the happiness that a kid could have that grownups would never know. The title of this photograph artwork is “Rue Mouffetard, Paris”. The title did not change the way in which I see the artwork, because I think the title is just the name of the road where the photographer has taken this photograph, so it would not matter. There are no parts that have been exaggerated or distorted. I think the theme of the work is social life in France as where the photographer lives. The work communicate children living in France will feel peaceful and joyful message.
Process
The materials and tools that were used to make this piece of artwork is Henri Cartier-Bresson uses the Single Lens Reflect Camera. The evidence is in the 1950’s there are no much editing tools, so we can see that this was a pure photograph that was taken by Henri Cartier-Bresson.
Mood
The photograph makes me feel happy, because when I look at the little boys face, sometimes I will laugh. I think the lighting, composition, camera angle or the theme of the work will affect the mood, because maybe from other camera angles or themes, the mood will be totally different. The work creates an atmosphere that is happy and joyful.

Weegee
Form
The texture seems to be the dominant element. The lines in the photograph are thin, energetic and curve. There are not many spaces in the photograph, most of the space are at the back of the photograph. There is no center of interest. The space did not isolate one dominant object, the subject has filled in the space on the front. I did not feel there is too much space, the front is full of people, I think this photograph is perfect. I think there are not many major shapes in the photograph, most likely they are some random and irregular shapes. I think the texture of the photograph is hard in the front and in the background, where at the right corner is a soft texture, where the color is getting blurred. If the photograph had color, the color will not attract the subject of the photograph, because if there are colors, it will make me feel it is a happy thing to play with water. In this photograph, I can see more use of value, from pure black, light black, a several gray and pure white. In this photograph, the photographer has use emphasis and contrast as the principles of the arts.
Context
This was made in 1937. It was taken in a street in New York. Weegee took this photograph. I think the artwork is made for the parents of the children who are playing with the water. The only thing that I know about Weegee is he is a photographer who is famous for street photography. The work has related to other photography of the time by having the same theme, which is all about street photography. The work relates to the social history of the time.
Content
This photograph is about children playing water on the street. From children’s facial expression, we can see that the children are very happy to have water. This is a landscape. The work represents summer is a happy season to play with water. The title of the photograph is “summer, the low east side”. The title does not change the way how I see the photograph, because it is also about children playing water, but it gives me more information that it is summer and it is in the low east side. I think there are no parts that are exaggerated or distorted, because I think this photograph is a normal photograph. I think the theme of this photograph is enjoy the time that we can play. The work communicates a player is the best thing that we can enjoy and be very happy message.
Process
The materials and tools that were used to make this piece is Weegee uses speed graphic camera. The evidence for this is nowadays people cannot found a camera that looks like the speed graphic camera.
Mood
The work makes me feel joyful, because the children played happily and when I watch it, it makes me want to play also. I think the light, composing, camera angle or theme of this work will affect the mood, because maybe if the topic is about disaster, then this will be a bad mood when we look at this photograph. The work creates an atmosphere that is freedom.

Don Mc Cullin
Form
The color and the texture seem to be the dominant element in this photograph. I think the uses of line in the photograph are thick and energetic. I think in the photograph does not have much space, because there are lots of objects in the photograph. The space did not isolate one dominant object, because there is not much space in the photograph. I think the shapes in the photograph are not major shapes like circle, square or rectangle, and they are some random and irregular shapes. The texture in the photograph is very soft, like the colors are very close to each other. I think more texture would be better for a photograph. If the photograph had color, it will detract from the subject of the photograph; because colors are some joyful color and the photography is about sadness, so I think black and white will be better for this photograph. From this photograph, I can see that the color tones are very dark; I think this is because the photographer wants to bring out the sadness of the woman so he did not use any flash light as to make it darker.
Context
This photograph is made in 1964; taken in Cyprus and taken by Don McCullin. The photograph was made for people who love war, because Don McCullin wants to tell people that if will start a war, and then we might lose something that is important to us. The thing that I know about Don McCullin is he is a photographer who takes photograph about war and urban life. The work relate to other photography of the time by having the same theme. I think the work related to both social and political history of the theme.

The work represents the sadness of losing something that is your favorite. The title of the work is “Grieving women Cyprus” The title would not affect the way that I see the work because I think that this photograph show that a Cyprus woman have been loosing something in a war. Mood
The photograph makes me feel sad and sympathy to the woman, because the woman cry so hard, and she is really sad that she have loose something. I think the light, composition, camera angle and the theme of the work will not affect the mood, because when I saw people crying in photographs, I will feel sad for them.
